See how resume creation interaction goes with pros. I doubt you do it with others. The work I put in is to put you on top. You will hardly come across and know fine detailing I do. Let me show you examples how I do.
My headline for a sales manager position resume:
"You will build relationships and sales growth with (Name), an achiever on your team who performed for three companies."
Client change it to
"Are you ready for your team to build relationships and create sales growth?"
He doesn’t want his name to use. He thinks it arrogant.
This I don't think is a good headline because everyone wants to build a relationship and want sales growth. It is a general statement. What we should say is you Mr. (Name) is the man who contributes or achieve it for you.
And he responded, “I agree and am okay.”
One told me how you could charge $400 for putting a headline on a resume. Yes, for the resume critique I said,
“I do a headline, functional title, story, and branding. I use experience, contact, etc. from your resume” so he said it.
My Story: I mentioned the same earlier also. I repeat it for client's interaction.

I am best at leading teams through complex projects, whether it is master planning, project management, or asset management. I spent 20 years in Air Force as a civil engineer, leading high performing professionals whether they were military, civilian, clients, consultants, architects, and/or general contractors. I left the Air Force for Cornell University to obtain a Masters in Real Estate and pursue my dream of being a real estate development professional. Most recently, I led a team in completing a $224M office development project on schedule and under budget. We had a very strict 36-month design and construction schedule, and we were able to overcome many setbacks and obstacles to meet the client timeline. And we keep the project under budget saving the client approximately $1.5M. In the Air Force, my nickname was ‘, Iron Major.’ I was entrusted with the most difficult tasks and always delivered outstanding results.
I am glad you try to change and keep to the standard also.
Your story is detailed and specific. I always am general and bit ambiguous. It creates curiosity and specifics will be discussed later in an interview.
You must put subheading. It is to get an attention and a trigger to read.
A story sub-heading will interest recruiter and hiring manager to read.
“Thanks, I like your advice and format. Should I take some of the detail out of the bullets then?”
You have perception, belief and preconceived ideas on many things. Let me talk on resume only.
Client response to my resume
“I am not happy with the resume draft that you have provided you
Basically copied the points in the job description to the resume. Can you
Put your inputs to the resume and refine it more? Put some keywords
from your end with the resume that I have provided.”
Me: I am trying to find what I copied.
Here is job description/requirement form the advertisement.
Tell me which line from above you find on the resume.
And for Keywords what you want?
The basic keyword is a post, experience, and functional terms.
We have Network engineer, Network Professional, Networking Standard, etc. I will tell more on keyword after hearing you.
I always use what you gave to a job requirement matching sheet. I never write experience bullets because it is work performed by the client and he can tell best what he did and performed.
I write branding, story, and headline plus give a title. And I said it on my webpage.
I try to understand what you want so, please clarify, and I can clear your doubts.
Client: Help me write a good summary which has the necessary keywords and at
the same time is eye-catching to the recruiters as I believe the summary
Is the key of resume what is your take on this? Isn't summary the same
for all position?
Me: I am sorry Objective, and summary is outdated, and no one uses it.
Do Google search.
Please tell me what you want?
You write "Isnlt summary the same for all position? Specks how off the mark you are with effective resume.
Resume must be specific to the job. Never a resume can be same for two different jobs.
Even for the equal position but to different company resume should be tailored to the individual company. I hope you remember my website page
You know why resume fail?
The main reason for resume failure is ‘No customization of a resume.’
Let us not talk about resume element. You want a summary and if your recruiter wants it, tell me I will send one, and it is the same company or different company?
Client: "Since you said you were uncomfortable speaking and preferred email... I sent you my requests via email and now that I have received your reply, I am not happy with your proposal for the following reasons:
- Although some may like the style... I don't think I like the style of resume you're proposing from your response or as explained in your website.
- I do not want a resume for a particular job as you are asking for, but instead for any employer.
I have decided to go with one of the other proposals instead."
Me: "It's your choice. I wish you best for the job.
I use ad elements on a resume which is new and you prefer the traditional style. And a generic resume for any employer hardly work. Best luck.
Thank you for time and considering my proposal."
